Police Superintendent Leo Irwin Agpangan, city police chief of Talisay, identified the fatalities as Hermin Soberano and his 14-year-old daughter, Fritzie Joy, both residents of Barangay Dos Hermanas in Talisay City, 7.3 kilometers north of Bacolod City.
Investigators said that at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the primary line of an electric company serving the area was accidentally cut off and landed on the roof of the Soberano residence, Agpangan said.
The accident sparked a blaze that caused panic inside the household and forced the Soberanos to scamper for safety, he added.
However, the elder Soberano and his daughter accidentally tripped on the live wire while they were about to leave the house, and they died instantly, the police said.
