Not For Sale Contest: Deadline Extended

THEME

Human trafficking is the broad theme of this contest. For your entries, you need to choose a particular facet of the crime to research and then represent. Possible ideas include:

The different forms of human trafficking. (sex slavery, debt-bondage, child soldiers, domestic slavery, etc)
Reasons why human trafficking is so difficult to fight. (Law enforcement corruption, lack of funds, lax laws, poverty, etc)
  • Who the victims are.
  • Who the perpetrators are.
  •  What YOU can do to fight human trafficking.
  • Different organizations that are trying to bring an end to human trafficking (it doesn't have to be NFS - there are many, many out there)

The list is truly endless. Here are some Tips for Research.

ENTERING

This contest is open to the following mediums:

  •  Literature
  •  Prose no more than 3,000 words
  •  Poetry no more than 50 lines (this includes Visual Poetry).
  •  Photography
  •  Digital Art
  •  This includes photo-manipulations and text art.
  •  Traditional Art

All entries must be made specifically for this contest! They should be uploaded to dA on or after January 1, 2010. Submissions will be closed on March 31, 2010 at 11:59 PST.

Entries should be submitted to the newly created Human Trafficking Awareness gallery: Community Projects > Awareness > 2010 > Human Trafficking Awareness

Entries that have already been submitted don't need to be moved, but it would be nice to populate that folder.

To enter, send a NOTE to =KneelingGlory with the subject line "NFS Contest - [Category]" and a thumb or link to your deviation.

RULES

  • Up to three entries per person as long as they are all to different categories. Judges may enter any of the categories they are NOT judging.
  •  Given the nature of the topic, Mature Content is allowed so long as it is properly marked. Nudity will be tolerated if it is tasteful and relevant to the topic. Try to be original. We know how horrifying sex-slavery is for young women. Find a less obvious way to show us.
  •  Prose and Poetry must have proper grammar and spelling. I'll be skimming all of the entries before they're accepted. If yours doesn't adhere to common spelling and grammar it will not be accepted. (Not capitalizing is okay.)
  •  In the Artist's Comments you need to write a short description of what part of human trafficking you are representing. Providing links or references to further research will give you brownie points. You also need to include a link to this journal/news article. Putting the stamp on your journal would be way awesome, too If you use any stock, please credit the places you found it - even if it is off of dA.
